Robin Uthappa, the former Indian batter has taken the Indian Team Management under scrutiny for picking players and not playing them on international level. He came in full support for Abhimanyu Easwaran who was not given even a single chance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
When Rohit Sharma missed the first Test, the selectors added Devdutt Padikkal in the squad and he was preferred over Abhimanyu Easwaran.
Abhimanyu Easwaran has consistently performed in domestic cricket and according to Uthappa it was unfair to ignore a batter with such immense potential. He further stated that the management should directly tell the player if they wanted to bench him.

“He is amassing 1000 runs in every season in the domestic cricket. If you are playing him then don’t give the false hope to that person,” Robin Uthappa told The Lallantop.
“Abhimanyu Easwaran could have become a Pujara on this tour. He didn’t get any chance. Just tell him on the face that you don’t belong to the international cricket and you keep scoring runs in domestic cricket,”
“There are so many players, Karun Nair was dropped after scoring a triple century. He didn’t do well in the two Tests and he was dropped. It was a shocker,”
India was brutally thrashed in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as they lost the series by 3-1 showcasing India’s complete collapse in both batting and bowling. Jasprit Bumrah was the lone warrior who carried the whole team on his shoulders and came to rescue in challenging times.
