Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has been among the most dependent middle-order batters the Indian cricket has ever seen in the past 20 years. The latter used to come lower down the order and win games for the Indian side. However, his last few years weren’t up to the mark as he would have expected due to which he was also dropped from the side. On August 15, 2020, Raina announced his retirement from international cricket and was seen playing for Chennai Super Kings in IPL. However, the latter who gave everything to the five-time cash-rich champions, wasn’t retained in 2022 after which he announced his retirement from the league as well.
Suresh Raina On Not Being Retained By Chennai Super Kings
Suresh Raina, in conversation with News24 journalist Manak Gupta, on ‘Chai Wala Interview’, opened up on how he felt after he wasn’t retained by CSK. Raina stated that he didn’t feel bad as during that time his father had passed away and he was out of form. Raina added that he played in the next edition of the tournament.
Suresh Raina said, “No, I was not sad. At that time my father had died, I was not in form, I played domestic cricket, then played the next year and we won. I was playing at number 3 at that time, I had retired so I was also playing domestic cricket. I am not sad but after that the league is happening, if they had retained me then I could have done better.”
