Team India is all geared to play against Australia in the first Test of the five-match series at the Optus Stadium in Perth from November 22. The India national cricket team will be led by pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the absence of Rohit Sharma. The Indian team registered historic victories on the previous two tours of Australia and they will look forward to repeat the performance once again. However, one of the major names who are not the part of Team India setup this time is Cheteshwar Pujara. The right-handed Saurashtra batter who was known to be among the most dependable batters at number three will be missing out from the team. However, in a conversation with Star Sports pressroom as quoted by News18 Cricket Next, Pujara stated that he wants to see KL Rahul to bat at number three.
Cheteshwar Pujara Predicts His Replacement At Number Three
Cheteshwar Pujara stated that he doesn’t know what will be the batting order but has heard that KL Rahul is likely to open. He added that he wants to see KL Rahul to bat at number three and said that he has the experience of batting at that position. Pujara said, “I don’t know what would be the batting order but I’ve heard that KL Rahul is likely to open. However, I would prefer him at No. 3. He has the experience to bat in that position. Ideally, it would be easy for Rahul since he has batted in the middle-order and currently he bats at no. 5. So, it would’ve been beneficial for India if Rahul bats one-down instead of opening the innings.”

KL Rahul has struggled with the bat in international cricket in the past few years. Rahul has been among the top performers and dependable players for the Indian team and has played pretty impactful knocks. If Rahul is given a chance to bat at number three, he will look forward to perform well and help the Indian team achieve a big first innings score.
