Australia lost the 2 match ODI series against Sri Lanka and it was never a tough fight for the Sri Lankans. In the first ODI the Australians were al out for 165 runs while chasing 214 runs. During the 2nd ODI the Kangaroos wrapped up their innings at 107 while chasing 282 runs and clean sweeping the ODI series. Although some key players like Pat Cummins were missing from the squad but this is not a healthy sign for the World Champions in the 50 over format.

The Australians faced constant difficulties from the start at the turning pitch during their pursuit of 282 runs. All cricketers in the Australian team endured hardships from the opposition spin bowling in that game. At the R Premadasa Stadium the three main bowling players Asitha Fernando and Dunith Wellalage with Wanindu Hasaranga performed impeccably.

The Australian team suffered a complete defeat which ended with a score of 107 runs. During the innings Steve Smith obtained the maximum number of Australian runs. Steve Smith completed his innings with 29 runs through 34 balls he faced during his batting time. In the match for Sri Lanka Dunith Wellalage achieved four wickets by conceding 35 runs. Besides Dunith Wellalage, both Hasaranga and Asitha Fernando also collected three wickets during the match.

Sri Lanka Posted a Strong Score
Sri Lanka started their innings by hitting 281 runs with four wickets before their 50-over completion. The opening batsman Nissan Madushka of Sri Lanka managed to score 51 runs from his 70-ball innings. Additionally, Kusal Mendis scored 101 runs. Meanwhile, Captain Asalanka scored 78 runs. In the late phase of the innings Janith Liyanage hit 32 runs from his 21 delivered balls. He hit 3 fours and 2 sixes. While sri Lankan opener Ben Dwarshuis and Hardy, Abbott and Zampa accomplished one wicket each during the Australia innings.
