Jasprit Bumrah Injury Update: India has begun its preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on a strong note, currently leading a three-match ODI series against England at home. This series serves as an ideal warm-up for the prestigious ICC tournament, with India taking an unassailable 2-0 lead.
Team vice-captain Shubman Gill has been in excellent form, and Ravindra Jadeja has also been impressive with the ball. Rohit Sharma’s return to form adds further strength to the squad.
However, a lingering concern for India’s Champions Trophy hopes remains Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness. Widely regarded as one of the best pacers in the world, Bumrah is still struggling with fitness issues and is awaiting clearance from the medical team. This uncertainty has raised doubts about his availability for the tournament, with his teammates uncertain about what lies ahead.
After India’s 4-wicket victory in the second ODI in Cuttack, India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was asked about Bumrah’s fitness. The all-rounder seemed unsure but expressed hope for a speedy recovery, emphasizing that Bumrah’s return would be crucial for both the team and the country.
“That’s something the medical team is handling. Hopefully, he recovers fully soon because it’s not just great for our team, but for the entire country,” Jadeja said.
Bumrah had been India’s key bowler during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia but suffered back spasms during the fifth and final Test in Sydney. While the BCCI had initially included Bumrah in the squad for the England ODI series, they later replaced him with spinner Varun Chakravarthy when the updated squad was announced. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar had initially expected Bumrah to be fit for the third ODI but has since been forced to make adjustments.
