Champions Trophy 2025: PCB Unveils Major Stadium Upgrades Ahead Of Mega Event!

PCB announces smooth progress on stadium upgrades for ICC Champions Trophy 2025, with Gaddafi and National Bank Stadiums ready.

Champions Trophy 2025: The PCB updated today that all preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 are going well. Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and National Bank Stadium in Karachi are in the final stages of completion and are set to host matches for the prestigious tournament.
Upgrades on Track for Timely Completion

In an update shared with the public, media, and fans, the PCB reassured everyone that the stadium upgrades are progressing according to schedule. The renovations are expected to be completed on time or possibly even ahead of schedule, ensuring that these venues will be ready for the Champions Trophy and other international cricket events.

Tri-Nation ODI Series Relocated to Upgraded Venues

Given the high stages of upgrades on both Gaddafi Stadium and National Bank Stadium, the PCB decided to host its upcoming tri-nation ODI series between Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa at these stadiums. It has been rescheduled from Multan as the two upgraded stadiums now boast enough infrastructure to be a good show case for the confidence of PCB towards readiness.

Gaddafi Stadium Improvements

Great change has been seen in the Gaddafi Stadium, one of Pakistan’s most iconic venues. The seating capacity of the stadium has been risen up to 35,000 and new comfortable chairs have been installed throughout the stadium. Moreover, 480 state-of-the-art LED lights have been installed to enhance the broadcasting quality of the event.

Two massive digital replay screens, set at 80 ft x 30 ft and 22 ft x 35 ft, are awaiting installation the following week. The stadium will be finally inaugurated by the end of January. The venue will also possess a new hospitality enclosure for players and officials, which will become operational before January 25 to guarantee a world-class experience for all stakeholders.

Upgrades at National Bank Stadium

National Bank Stadium too has seen a series of upgrades. A new hospitality enclosure has been developed at the University End and 350 LED lights have been installed to facilitate better broadcast coverage. Two huge digital replay screens have already been installed, while 5,000 new chairs have been added for spectators to have a comfortable viewing experience. Such developments will definitely ensure that the stadium meets the international standards as well as will provide an exemplary experience to all the fans and players.

Minor Upgrades to Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium

Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is getting upgrades, although not on that large scale. They are installing new chairs, that number being around 10,000, renovating hospitality boxes, and constructing two digital replay screens. Such minor touch-ups will ensure that the stadium fits the international quality needed for future events.

Staying True to the Promise of Maintaining Superlative Grounds

The outfields and playing surfaces at all venues are maintained and improved with diligence by the PCB curators, headed by Tony Hemming. Competitive cricket has not been played in Lahore and Karachi since the upgrades began; hence, the fields are always spotless. In Rawalpindi, the last match was played at the end of 2024, and it continues to strive to maintain its playing surface at an excellent standard.

PCB’s Commitment to Excellence

The PCB has committed to ensuring all venues are ready for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, with over 250 workers working tirelessly to meet the 25 January deadline. The board is confident that these upgrades will elevate the fan experience and further establish Pakistan as a premier destination for international cricket.
