The New Zealand Cricket Board announced on Friday, 14 February that Ben Sears has been ruled out for the Champions Trophy 2025 edition due to Hamstring injury. Sears was the part of the squad of the Tri-Series against Pakistan and South Africa. He suffered a major injury during a training session on Wednesday, After tests and scans doctors declared that he is not fit to play for the next couple of months.

Jacob Duffy has been announced as the replacement for New Zealand for the Champions Trophy which is scheduled from 19 February to 9 March. The rigth arm fast medium for the Kiwis, Sears has picked up 18 wickets in 10 ODI matches with an average of 26. He was also part of the Sri Lanka series where he took 4 wickets in his 2 appearances.
