Carlos Alcaraz secured a four-set win against Jannik Sinner on Sunday as he claimed the title of US Open 2025. This marks his second victory in New York and sixth Grand Slam overall. The 22-year old Spaniard impressed with his performance and gracious words in the post-match press conference. He heaped huge praise for Sinner and highlighted about Italian’s exceptional season.
“This tournament is super special for me,” Alcaraz said during the post-match presentation.
“It is incredible, the three weeks that I spend here, it’s just a privilege to be part of these tournaments. I just feel at home, feel the energy, feel the love, just trying to play my best for you guys. You made everything easy, so thank you very much,” he said.
“It’s unbelievable what Jannik has been doing throughout the season. The level you are playing at every tournament. I’m seeing you more than I am my family!” Alcaraz quipped.
With 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 win, Alcaraz ended Sinner’s season with an impressive 27-match unbeaten streak on hard-court Grand Slam. With this dashing win, Alcaraz will now claim the number 1 spot on Monday and he will be returning to the top after September 2023. Last time when Sinner and Alcaraz clashed, it was in Wimbledon where Sinner claimed victory.
