Ravi Shastri stated that how Virat Kohli asked for permission to bring in Anushka Sharma on the tour to Australia, as that time Virat was dating her and only wives were allowed to the players. Shastri gave his nod to Virat but the right-handed Indian batter stated that the board isn’t allowing Anushka to travel with the team. However, with Shastri’s interference, the famous Bollywood actress was allowed to travel with the team.

Ravi Shastri said, “I remember when I was the coach in 2015. He wasn’t married then, he was dating Anushka, and he came to me and said that only wives are allowed. Can I get my girlfriend? I said sure. He said the board is not allowing it. So I made the call and she came up and she joined us. In the very first game, in the Boxing Day Test he hit 169. Then the same scenes, the flying kiss went up like yesterday. She is a big support for him.”

The 2014-15 Australian tour was a memorable one for Virat Kohli as he smashed 694 runs from four Tests after having a dry patch in international cricket. The Indian team lost the Test series by 2-0 but the type of character Virat showed throughout the series was absolutely exceptional and same was adapted by the team when he became the full-time captain.
