New Delhi: The World Championship for Badminton is all set to start from August 22 and India squad has geared up its belt to fight. After a successful Commonwealth Games campaign in Birmingham earlier this month, Indian athletes would eye on being crowned as the World Champions of the game. 

However, India star player PV Sindhu has pulled out of the tournament after suffering an ankle injury in her CWG2022. Tokyo Olympic medalist Sindhu is the only gold medalist of the tournament but she would make these amends in later tournaments.

India would be putting their hopes with the other players of the country. Many star players are participating in World Championships and gold medal in any category will be historic.

Here is the list of Top Medal contenders for India in the upcoming Badminton World Championship :-

Lakshya Sen – The young shuttler from India has been having an amazing year. In the recently concluded Commonwealth Games, Sen got himself a shinning gold medal in the Men’s Singles event. The 21-year-old is the hot favourite for India but he will have to make his way through Viktor Axelsen, the defending champion. 

Kidambi Srikanth – Srikanth would eye on changing the colour of his medal. In the last edition, he ghot himself a silver medal as he lost the battle of finale but this time, he would definitely like to change that for himself. The 29-year-old settled for a bronze medal in the CWG2022 and would now be competing in the same category as Sen.

Pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy

The India duo will be starting their game directly from Round 2 and they looked in a great form in Birmingham as well. The spectacular pair won a gold medal in the CWG 2022 and will aim to change history forever by becoming World Champions.
