Tokyo: The BWF World Championships has started and India had a successful Day 1 as their star players made their way ahead in the tournament.

Lakshya Sen reaches R32

Ace shuttler Lakshya Sen comfortable won the Round of 64 against Norwegian H.K.Vittinghus and has sailed in the R32 of the tournament. He will now fight against L.Penalver on August 24.

Kidambi Srikanth and Prannoy HS also won their games. Srikanth faced a cut-throat competition as N.Nguyen gave his best performance to win the game. The Indian shuttler won it with the score-line of 22-20, 21-19.

Prannoy won the game by 21-12, 21-11 and moved in the R32 and would now be facing Japan’s K.Momota.

The fourth India shuttler playing in the Men’s singles round B.Sai Praneeth lost his game and has been kicked out of the tournament.

In the women’s singles event of the tournament, M.Bansod was defeated by L. Christophersen by 14-21, 12-21. Saina Nehwal will play her R64 tomorrow.
