Kishan will be eyeing to earn back his place back in Team India
Kishan’s last domestic first-class match was in December 2022. He chose to skip the Ranji Trophy towards the end of the 2023-24 domestic season, which had repercussions. As a result, he was dropped from the central contract list for not giving sufficient priority to domestic cricket. The Board of Control for Cricket in India, took away Kishan’s central contract because of his long due absence from domestic cricket.
“With Ishan, it was never about ability. It was only about whether he was ready to return. The decision was with him. When he was not included in the initial list, it was only because we hadn’t heard from him. The moment he expressed his keenness to return, he was drafted in,” a JSCA functionary was quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
His last game for Team India was in November 2023 when India played a five-match Test series against Australia at home. This year Ishan played the Indian Premier league 2024, he is a part of Mumbai Indians (MI) where he scored 320 runs in 14 matches with a strike rate of 148.84.
