Brock Lesnar doesn’t just return, he erupts back into WWE. And at SummerSlam, that’s exactly what happened. In a moment nobody saw coming, Lesnar stormed back into the spotlight, blindsiding John Cena and sending shockwaves across the wrestling world. It was his first appearance since SummerSlam 2023, where he fell short against Cody Rhodes, and fans instantly knew the landscape had changed. But Lesnar’s road back to WWE wasn’t straightforward.
A Return That Almost Happened Sooner
Originally, WWE had plans to bring Lesnar back in early 2024. Those plans collapsed when his name surfaced in Janel Grant’s sex trafficking lawsuit involving Vince McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis. With the company under intense scrutiny, any Lesnar-related creative was put on ice.
Once the dust began to settle, however, The Beast Incarnate quietly made his way back.
Dominating From the Moment He Returned
Lesnar didn’t waste any time re-establishing his dominance. After attacking Cena at SummerSlam, he went on to defeat him at Wrestlepalooza, reminding everyone he’s still one of WWE’s most unstoppable forces.
Then came Survivor Series, where Lesnar joined a powerhouse WarGames team featuring Bronson Reed, Bron Breakker, Drew McIntyre, and Logan Paul guided, of course, by his longtime ally Paul Heyman. The group tore through the competition, adding another major win to Lesnar’s already stacked resume.
Backstage: WWE Is All-In on Lesnar
While a section of fans has voiced frustration about Lesnar returning amid past controversy, the vibe backstage couldn’t be more different.
During an interview with Daniel Cormier of ESPN, WWE President Nick Khan praised Lesnar with surprising openness “When he walks into a room, he looks and usually is the baddest dude on the planet. That’s his personification. He is a gem to work with… We’re honored to have him back.”
Khan also noted that Lesnar’s easy to deal with, so long as he knows the plan ahead of time.
A Fresh Contract and a New Chapter
During his hiatus in 2024 and into 2025, Lesnar’s previous WWE deal quietly expired. Reports suggest he was a free agent for several months, but the expectation internally was always that he’d return to the company that built “The Beast” aura around him.
Now, with a fresh contract signed and his aura intact, Brock Lesnar is officially back and WWE is making sure his presence is felt loudly.
Whether fans love it or hate it, one thing’s clear: Whenever Brock Lesnar shows up, WWE gets a whole lot more unpredictable.
