During a recent Wrestling Observer Radio, veteran journalist Dave Meltzer said that Braun Strowman’s salary was a factor in the company’s decision to release him. According to Meltzer:
Braun Strowman had a very high salary. One source said that he wasn’t being used enough to explain what he was being paid. Surely, his big paycheck turned out to be his ticket out.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the Wrestling Observer Newsletter earned an annual salary of $1.2 million. He was under a long term contract with WWE. This salary amount did not take into account earnings from video games, merchandise, or bonuses. WWE is famous for bold decisions, and in the case that is at hand, the company reportedly believed that his offered salary was too high for the quantity of work in question.
Braun Strowman’s WWE Match Record
Braun Strowman had a colorful run in WWE. He was one of those wrestlers who had the in-ring presence of a lion who was always central to the action, with ongoing admiration from his fans. In his WWE career, he participated in 742 matches, of which he won 506 and lost 219. His record shows that he has gained weight to the tune of 68.2%, thereby establishing dominance in the ring.
Strowman blossomed after 2017, especially during his singles run. He had fierce competition with the big names: Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar. In 2018, he wrestled the most, 146 to be exact, in a single campaign. One of his greatest career records came in the year 2020, when he won the Universal Championship by defeating Goldberg at WrestleMania.
