‘Bigger Than Premier League’ Shreyas Iyer Claims IPL To Be More Intense Than EPL

Shreyas Iyer makes a shocking statement regarding IPL and English Premier League after DC vs PBKS clash.

After DC’s game with PBKS, the PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer stated the Indian Premier League is more competitive than the English Premier League. Shreyas gave his viewpoint at the end of the game, when Delhi beat Punjab, who have already made the playoffs this season. Three teams that are already heading to the playoffs—Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and now Punjab Kings—have all lost to sides that have been eliminated in the last three matches. Because of this, Shreyas noted that all teams could overcome any competition on their special day.

Shreyas Iyer Statement

“It’s bigger than a Premier League, I feel. Every team is equally poised in this tournament. You need to stay positive and calm as much as possible. There is always a sunrise you see tomorrow. You need to stick to the present rather than dwelling on what happened today,” Shreyas Iyer said after the match.

Shreyas Iyer About The Match

“I felt that it was a fantastic score, to be honest, on this wicket. The wicket was helping the seamers. There was variable bounce on the wicket. The ball wasn’t coming at the same pace. I felt that the score was over par,” Shreyas Iyer said.

“I think we weren’t disciplined enough in terms of our execution. Once we read the wicket in the first innings, we planned on bowling hard lengths as much as possible and right at the stumps. We couldn’t execute our plans as we tried bowling bouncers at certain stages, which wasn’t required. It’s a great learning experience for the boys,” he added.

DC Vs PBKS Match Highlights

Sameer Rizvi’s 58 runs from 25 deliveries helped DC defeat PBKS by 6 wickets. When they completed 207, DC headed back to the shed with three extra balls in play. Karun Nair scored a quick 44 from 27 balls. At the start, Shreyas Iyer and Marcus Stoinis scored well, allowing PBKS to put up 206-8 after being given the first knock. In just 34 balls, Iyer made 53 and Stoinis showed his powers by finishing not out on 44 made off only 16. It was Mustafizur Rahman who was the standout as he recorded 3 for 33 for the Delhi Capitals.
