The sighting of illness plagued Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant from the Indian team just before their Champions Trophy match against Pakistan. The fever he experienced made Pant unable to attend practice on Saturday. Shubman Gill presented the team’s situation at the pre-match press conference when he added to the news that Pant was absent from practice activities. Earlier also Pant suffered an injury on the knee in a practice session.

Pant Didn’t Play Against Bangladesh
Pant remained on the sidelines as the Indian XI did not include him for the opening Champions Trophy match against Bangladesh. Every fan questioned Pant’s potential role in the important Pakistan game during the matchless discussion that surfaced before their clash. Rahul prevailed with his bat in the latest game to register an unbeaten 41 runs off 47 balls while sharing an unmatched 87-run stand with Gill at the fifth wicket. During the match Gill achieved a century while helping India to win with six wickets.

Gill made the announcement yesterday that Pant refused to attend the match since he was unwell. My team and I discussed the issue with players who remained off-field because of performance-related discomfort.
Gill in Outstanding Form
The Australian tour proved challenging for Gill who amassed 93 runs from three matches until he showcased exceptional performance in the three-match ODI series against England. In his recent four ODI innings Rishabh Pant secured multiple half centuries and achieved two hundred-run scores. According to Gill he dedicated his attention to psychological development without worrying about technical perfection.
During the Australian campaign Gill believed his skills were strong enough to score runs because of no technical weaknesses. The mental component proved to be the principal determinant in this situation. The inability to score runs generates the impression of a technical problem yet technical issues are not necessarily the reason for poor performance. The series was limited-overs and I expected success because of my confidence so I ended up achieving exactly what I wanted.
