The Pakistan cricket team (PCB) has been facing challenges since the Asia Cup 2023, and significant changes have occurred in the team, especially after the One Day International (ODI) World Cup 2023. Not only have there been alterations in the playing squad, but there have also been continuous changes in various positions within the PCB, witnessing resignations one after another.
3 Resignations At Once
This trend continued on a Thursday when it was revealed that three coaches simultaneously resigned from their positions. These three seasoned coaches were associated with Pakistan’s National Cricket Academy. The names of these coaches are Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Andrew Puttick. It’s worth noting that these coaches had recently been appointed to the coaching staff of the PCB after the conclusion of the ODI World Cup.
Despite the new coaching staff being appointed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in the aftermath of the ODI World Cup, these three coaches, who were part of Pakistan’s National Cricket Academy, chose to resign together. Mickey Arthur, who served as Pakistan’s head coach from 2016 to 2019, had been appointed as the Director of Cricket for the team in April 2023.

Furthermore, Bradburn served as the fielding coach for the team from 2018 to 2020 and was appointed as the head coach last year. Simultaneously, Puttick held the role of batting coach for the team. After the World Cup, Pakistan underwent changes in all coaching positions and captaincy. Subsequently, these three coaches were removed from the national team and were given responsibilities within the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Meanwhile, Mohammad Hafeez was appointed as the team’s director.
Additionally, Hafeez was also the head coach in the recently concluded Test series against Australia. In addition to him, Adam Hollioake was appointed as the batting coach, while Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal were designated as the fast bowling and spin bowling coaches, respectively. Pakistan’s team performance has been poor in the past few months. After disappointing displays in the Asia Cup and the World Cup, the team lost the Test series in Australia by 3-0. Subsequently, the team also faced a 3-0 defeat in the T20 series in New Zealand. Although Shan Masood was appointed as the captain for red-ball cricket, and Shaheen Afridi was given the captaincy for white-ball cricket, their impact has not yet been evident on the team’s performance.
