Adelaide Strikers played against Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League 2024-25 match at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. The hosts achieved a 15-run victory over the stars courtesy of a clinical team performance wherein Strikers batter D Arcy Short played an innings of 60 runs from 42 balls. Strikers put up a first innings score of 165/6 in 20 overs wherein Peter Siddle and Adam Milne picked two-wickets hauls for the Stars. Melbourne Stars batter Ben Duckett took a stunning catch to dismiss Adelaide Strikers batter D Arcy Short. Short tried to smack Peter Siddle towards the off side, however, Duckett timed his jump to performance and pulled off a one-handed catch. The video for the same went viral on the social media.

Getting back to the match, batting first Adelaide Strikers lost early wicket of Matthew Short who got cleaned up by Adam Milne for 11 runs. Jake Weatherald and D Arcy Short put up a stand of 39 runs from 23 balls for the second wicket. However, Weatherald couldn’t do much and got out for 11 runs followed by Ollie Pope for 8 runs. Short continued to score runs from the other end and brought up a welcome half century. Short hit eight fours and two sixes during his stay at the crease. Alex Ross provided the much needed finish to the innings and played a knock of 35 runs from 26 balls. In the end, Adelaide Strikers put up a first innings score of 165/6.

Chasing down the target, Melbourne Stars weren’t off to a decent start wherein they lost opener Ben Duckett for a duck. Sam Harper played an innings of 48 runs from 44 balls followed by a 19 ball 27-run knock from Marcus Stoinis. However, other batters weren’t able to contribute more and the visitors kept on losing wickets from the other end. Lloyd Pope picked up three wickets for the Adelaide Strikers and they were able to win the match by a margin of 15 runs.
