Team India lost the IND vs AUS 5th Test by a margin of six wickets played at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The Indian team also ended up suffering a 1-3 loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 losing the trophy for the first time after 2017. The BGT 2024-25 was a huge question mark on the techniques of the Indian batters. Virat Kohli, who was expected to score the most runs on the Australian soil almost failed in every match and scored 190 runs from nine innings out of which one hundred was scored during the first match played in Perth. Else, the latter has almost failed in every innings and got out in the same fashion against the Australian bowlers.
Irfan Pathan Slams Virat Kohli
Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan slammed Virat Kohli for not playing domestic cricket for almost a decade. He also questioned Virat’s place in the Test side and stated that the superstar culture should be ended in the team. He said to Star Sports, “We need to end superstar culture, we need team culture. You need to improve yourself and improve the Indian team. There were matches before this series, too, and they had an opportunity to play domestic cricket, but they didn’t. We need to change that culture. When was the last time Virat Kohli played domestic cricket? It has been more than a decade.”

Virat Kohli has been constantly bothered by bowlers in the fourth stump region where the batter hasn’t been able to pick on which ball he has to play a shot and which he has to leave. As a result, the latter ends up edging the ball to either wicket-keeper or gets out in the first slip, which happened throughout the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
