The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning of starting a new T10 cricket league in the country.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah is developing a plan for a potential Tier-2 league which might start in September-October 2024.

Additionally, reports suggest that the T10 league’s introduction is currently in its early stages.
The idea that has been receiving good responses in many countries has got a positive reaction from the sponsors as well, even though it is still in the early phase of planning.

With the Indian Premier League (IPL) becoming the most followed and watched domestic cricket league all over the world, the 10-over format might just pick up with the fans and create more revenue for the board.

The idea will not only benefit BCCI as it will also generate revenue for the cricket boards that are struggling to make money through bilateral series.

However, the BCCI hasn’t made a formal statement regarding the proposed new T10 league.

BCCI focus on IPL Auction 2024

With all eyes on the upcoming IPL Auction on December 19, BCCI won’t be shifting focus from the IPL any time soon as teams look to complete their teams ahead of the 17th edition of the domestic league. A total of 333 players have been shortlisted out of which 119 of them are overseas players. The auction, which is being hosted at an overseas location for the first time ever will commence from 2:30 PM IST. The event will feature a live audience for the first time as well.
