Squad To Be Announced During IPL
The announcement of Team India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 could coincide with IPL 2024. Fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement, and the BCCI is gearing up to make it. The outstanding performances of Indian players in IPL 2024 have caught the attention of the BCCI selectors, and the announcement may also reveal the fate of many young players.
All countries have until May 1 to announce their teams for the T20 World Cup 2024, and the BCCI is expected to convene a meeting on April 27 or 28 to discuss Team India’s announcement, likely in Delhi, where Rohit Sharma will be present due to Mumbai Indians’ match.
Among the players, there’s particular scrutiny on Hardik Pandya’s form, which has been lackluster, especially in bowling, where he’s struggled to make an impact.
As per a PTI report, apart from captain Rohit Sharma, players such as Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav have secured their spots in the squad.
However, there is fierce competition among several top performers in the IPL for the remaining positions, particularly for the backup wicketkeeper role. Contenders like Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, Jitesh Sharma, and Dhruv Jurel are vying for the spot as Pant’s understudy.
