During the PBKS’s match against CSK at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday Shreyas Iyer received a monetary fine from the Indian Premier League authorities because his team maintained a slow pace of sending over the ball. Iyer received a Rs. 12 Lakh fine because PBKS committed their first slow over rate violation during this tournament according to Article 2.22 of IPL code of conduct.

“Shreyas Iyer, Captain, Punjab Kings has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 49 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Wednesday,” the IPL wrote in a statement.
“As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Iyer was fined INR 12 Lakh.”

What Happened In The CSK Vs PBKS Match
CSK scored 190 runs before setting PBKS with 191 runs to chase which the opening batters from PBKS could not convert into a victory. The batting order was led by Sam Curran who hit 9 boundaries and 4 six then made 88 runs through 47 deliveries while Shaik Rasheed earned 11 runs and Ayush Mhatre got 7. During the match Jadeja managed 17 runs yet Brevis scored 32 runs but the rest of the team members did not generate any significant scores. Yuzvendra Chahal became both the first IPL 2025 hat-trick player and placed at number 9 in the points earned and wicket-taking categories by achieving three wickets against CSK batters in the 19th over. Punjab won the match by pursuing 191 runs as Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh both hit half-centuries and intercepted four wickets.
