Despite India’s impressive standing as current T20 World Cup champions and 2023 ODI World Cup finalists, their Test cricket performance has seen a concerning decline. The team’s recent struggles include a 0-3 home series loss to New Zealand, followed by the disappointing Australian tour outcome.
Several critical issues are likely to be addressed during the review, including the underperformance of senior players, with particular focus on captain Rohit Sharma’s withdrawal from the Sydney Test and Virat Kohli’s extended form slump. The meeting may also discuss reports of discontent among senior players during the tour and examine Ravichandran Ashwin’s unexpected mid-series retirement announcement and subsequent departure.

Notably, Agarkar, who was present throughout the BGT series as the touring selector, will provide firsthand insights into the team’s performance in Australia.
