According to PTI, Gaekwad, son of former India captain D K Gaekwad, is undergoing treatment at King’s College Hospital in London.
It also said that Shah, had personally spoken to Mr. Gaekwad’s family to understand the situation and extend assistance. The statement affirmed that the entire board is supporting Gaekwad’s family during this challenging time and is taking every possible measure for Mr. Gaekwad’s swift recovery.
It also said that BCCI would be keeping regular updates on the improvement of Mr. Gaekwad and added their belief he would regain his strength back from this period.
Gaekwad, 71, represented India in 40 Tests and 15 ODIs from 1975 to 1987.
Kapil Dev expressed his distress at seeing his colleague’s condition and urged the BCCI to “support and take care” of Gaekwad.
‘It’s sad and very depressing. I am pained because I used to play alongside Anshu, and I cannot see him in this condition. Nobody deserves this. I hope the Board will back him all the way,’ Kapil added.
