BCCI Come Up With New Plan For WPL 2024, Delhi And Bengaluru Likely To Host Matches
BCCI
The Women's Premier League is set to have its second season this year, and female players have shared their opinions on the matter. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is developing a new plan for the upcoming season, intending to host matches in locations outside Mumbai. Currently, discussions are ongoing to finalize two city names for this initiative. While official approval is pending, preparations are being made for the proposed changes.
Potential Venues
While the inaugural season of the Women's Premier League saw all matches in Mumbai, the BCCI is now looking to emulate the IPL's doubleheader format by having matches in other cities. Deliberations are ongoing for the selection of Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium and Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium as potential venues. According to insiders, the first-half matches of the Women's Premier League may be scheduled at Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, with playoff matches set for Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Although there was initial contemplation of holding matches for WPL Season 2 at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, its substantial size led to the abandonment of this option. Interestingly, the BCCI is not as eager to host matches in Mumbai this time around.
