BCCI Central Contract: After the Champions Trophy 2025, BCCI will release the new central contract list of Team India. As a part of this update, a few players who got limited chances last year will be dropped, and retired players will also be dropped from the list. Four players will be released in total, and new faces may replace them.

Ravichandran Ashwin

Seasoned bowler Ravichandran Ashwin, who retired from international cricket after the Test series against Australia, is likely to be left out of the central contract. Ashwin, who was in Grade A previously, will no longer be included in the contract list, but he will still feature in the IPL, where he will play for Chennai Super Kings in 2025. His exit may open the door for a younger player to establish themselves in the national team.

Rajat Patidar

Rajat Patidar, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper, was in Grade C of the last central contract. Though he had been a part of the Indian squad earlier, Patidar’s prospects in the side have been limited, and since there were no regular appearances in all three formats last season, his expulsion from the central contract looks inevitable. Yet, Patidar may return to the fray if he steers RCB to victory in the IPL. Till now, he has played 3 Tests and 1 ODI for India.

KS Bharat

Wicketkeeper-batsman KS Bharat got the chance to play for the Test side when Rishabh Pant was injured. Even after getting opportunities, Bharat was unable to take them, which resulted in his removal after Pant returned. With Dhruv Jurel now also joining as a second wicketkeeper, Bharat’s removal from the central contract is on the cards. Bharat has featured in 7 Test matches but has scored a meager 221 runs at a disappointing average of 20.09.

Mukesh Kumar

Right-arm fast bowler Mukesh Kumar, who was previously part of India’s team in all formats, featured in Grade C of the previous central contract. But after being kept out of the team after Gautam Gambhir was appointed head coach, Mukesh Kumar’s prospects have been reduced, with Harshit Rana replacing him. Since he is no longer part of the team, it is likely that Mukesh will be excluded from the central contract too. To date, he has played 3 Tests, 6 ODIs, and 17 T20s for India.
