Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and support staff for this outstanding achievement!,” wrote Jay Shah on his X account.The ICC (International Cricket Council) had previously announced a record prize pool of $11.25 million for the T20 World Cup 2024. As the champions, India will receive $2.45 million (Rs 20.42 crores) along with additional bonuses, marking the highest amount ever awarded in the tournament's history. Meanwhile, South Africa, as the runner-ups, will receive $1.28 million (Rs 10.67 crores).
After choosing to bat first, the Men in Blue set a solid total of 176/7 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to impressive innings from Virat Kohli (76 off 59) and Axar Patel (47 off 31). In response, South Africa managed to score only 169/8 in their 20 overs, with Hardik Pandya (3/20), Arshdeep Singh (2/20), and Jasprit Bumrah (2/18) taking key wickets. Consequently, India won the match by seven runs, ending their 11-year wait for an ICC trophy.
