Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Stars are playing against each other in match number 19 of the Big-Bash League 2024-25 at ‘The Gabba’ in Brisbane. Stars all-rounder Glenn Maxwell mostly known for his power hitting on the field is also a ‘gun’ fielder and has taken some brilliant catches in the past in both international cricket and T20 leagues. Maxwell did the same during the Brisbane Heat vs Melbourne Stars BBL 2024-25 match. Stars ended up winning the toss and elected to bowl first in Brisbane.
During the first ball of the 17th over in the first innings, bowler Dan Lawrence bowled a fullish pitched delivery which was in the slot and tried to hit down the ground by batter Will Prestwidge. The Heat batter almost timed the ball as it was about to clear the boundary but in between came Glenn Maxwell. The Australian all-rounder made a full-stretch jump to catch the ball with one and threw it inside with time. At the end, Maxwell came back into the boundary and completed the catch showcasing his brilliance.

Batting first, Brisbane Heat registered a score of 149/7 wherein batter Max Bryant played an unbeaten innings of 77 runs from 44 balls which included four fours and six sixes. Bryant batted with a strike rate of 160.42 and played a major role in helping Heat post a competitive first innings total. However, the hosts didn’t start off well as they lost openers Colin Munro and Tom Banton for just 21 runs. Nathan McSweeney and Matt Renshaw couldn’t do much and were dismissed cheaply as well. Mark Steketee picked up two wickets for the Melbourne Stars whereas Joel Paris, Peter Siddle, Usama Mir and Dan Lawrence ended up with one wicked each.
