Earlier, Laporta had said in an interview, “I hope the Messi chapter isn’t over. I think it’s our responsibility to try to find a moment to fix that chapter, which is still open, so it turns out how it should have, and that it has a more beautiful ending.”

Barcelona legend Lionel Messi left club in 2021

Messi left Barcelona in 2021 after a long contract renewal process that never came through. The Argentine’s departure left a wound in the club which ended up affecting them economically, with PSG bringing in and earning a lot more money through sponsorships.

It left Barcelona without a world-class star and a brand that many companies wanted to associate themselves with.

It was the first time in two decades the Catalan club ended with absolutely nothing in the trophy cabinet, finishing a period of dominance. The Blaugrana had problems scoring goals, and they suffered in the Champions League. Xavi gave the team new life when he arrived helping the team finish 2nd in La Liga.

The coach believes that Messi can still offer a lot on the pitch given his experience and quality. Xavi thinks it’s reasonable for Leo to come back and lead the team in the near future.

However, in the current scenario, Hernandez has said, “Makes no sense to speak about Leo Messi’s comeback at Barcelona right now, he’s under contract with PSG so it’s impossible.”

But he also not denying on the future possibility of the this fairytale turning true. “We’ll see in the future. Laporta had already said he hoped it was not yet the end for Messi at Barca,” added Hernandez.

The 7-time Ballon d’Or winner has represented the Catalans in 776 matches across all competitions, scoring a record 670 goals and providing 302 assists.
