Shanto posted centuries in successive test innings
Najmul Hossain Shanto has displayed fine batting during the subsequent trip of Bangladesh to Sri Lanka. Shanto struck another Test century after scoring a majestic century in the first inning, leaving the Lankan Lions frustrated inside their backyard. This is the second instance where Shanto has hit a hundred in both innings of a test match. Thereby, he broke the record of being the first ever captain of Bangladesh to score the legendary milestone.
Shanto also became the first Bangladeshi batter to make 100 in each innings in an away test. Mominul Haque and Shanto himself have already done it on home grounds, booking Test tons on both innings against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, respectively.

Shanto drives Bangladesh to 285
Bangladesh began to take a slippery start following their first innings tally of 485 runs by Sri Lanka, losing Anamul Haque and Mominul Haque back to back. Nonetheless, Shanto and Shadman Islam recovered the innings with a dramatic one, making a strong 68-run partnership in the third wicket.
Shadman was dismissed in a high 76, and Shanto meanwhile carved his swashing way to a refined 199-ball 125* before Bangladesh declared their second innings as they aimed for a 296-run goal at the hosts.
