New Delhi: Najmul Hossain struck the 30 balls half-century as Bangladesh defeated England by six wickets in the first T20 series at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Thursday.

Bangladesh innings recap
Najmul came on the crease at 4th over of the Bangladesh innings and batted till 13th overs. After that Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan smashed the boundary through deep backward point in an unbeaten 34 off 24 as the host outplayed the world champions England.
Bangladesh bowlers successfully restricted the English batters to 156-6 in the first of three T20s. Hasan Mahmud scalped two wickets, he removed captain Jos Buttler, when he was on 67 runs.

The host made energetic start to the chase. Rony Talukdar, who returned after eight years to play his only second game. Talukdar made 21 off 14. After that Najmul Hossain came on the pitch. Hossain started with four straight boundaries against fast bowler Mark Wood. Najmul brought up his third T20 fifty with a single off off-spinner Moeen Ali and Wood returned to rattle his stumps.

Jos Buttler and Phil Salt partnership
Earlier in the game, Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and invited Jos Buttler-led team to bat first. In response, skipper Jos Buttler and Phil Salt gave England an ominous start. Buttler struck 67 off 42 with four fours and as many sixes. Meanwhile, Salt hit 38.
They formed an 80-run partnership before left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed made the breakthrough by removing Salt.

The focus now shifts to Dhaka where 2nd T20 will be played on Sunday. Bangladesh, now leads three match T20 series by 1-0.
