Jason Roy’s phenomenal performance
Jason Roy became the third batter to score the most centuries for England in One Day International (ODI) cricket. In 115 matches, Roy has played 109 innings and has hammered 12 hundreds. With his electrifying performance against Bangladesh, Jason Roy now has surpassed Jonny Bairstow’s 11 centuries and equalled Marcus Trescothick’s 12-ton record.
Marcus scored 12 centuries in 123 matches, thus Roy surpassed him in terms of scoring 12 centuries in fewer innings. There are now only two England batsmen ahead of Jason Roy. Former England captain Eoin Morgan and Joe Root have scored more centuries than him. Morgan has 13 centuries and Root has 16 centuries. Morgan has retired from ODIs and Root is no longer playing in ODIs. In such a situation, Roy has a big chance to overtake him as an active player. By the way, India legend Sachin Tendulkar is at the top. Sachin had scored 49 centuries in ODIs.
