The former prime minister was injured Thursday after shots were fired at his reception camp in the Gujranwala town. He sustained bullet injuries to his right leg.
Several other people, including PTI leader Faisal Javed, also sustained injuries.
The 70-year-old Khan was leading the march on the capital Islamabad to demand snap elections after he was ousted in April.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in ‘strongest words’ condemened the firing incident and directed Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah to seek an immediate report on the incident.
