Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam made history by surpassing India’s Virat Kohli to become the leading run-scorer in T20I cricket, even as his team suffered a surprising defeat to the USA in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Babar reached this milestone during Pakistan’s opening match against the United States at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas, on Thursday. He scored 44 runs off 43 balls, including three fours and two sixes, playing a key role in setting a competitive total of 159 for 7 in 20 overs.

Babar Azam Top Of Batters List
Babar now tops the T20I run-scoring chart with 4,067 runs in 120 matches, while Kohli has slipped to second place with 4,038 runs in 118 matches. Both players will have the opportunity to vie for the top spot again when India faces Pakistan on June 9 in New York.
This highly anticipated India-Pakistan clash will be held at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, a venue criticized for its challenging pitch and outfield. The stadium’s surface offers unpredictable bounce, and the slow outfield adds to the difficulty. The venue uses drop-in pitches, which have appeared unsettled in the first two matches held there.
India also played their opening match at this venue, where several batters were injured due to the pitch’s bounce. India captain Rohit Sharma had to retire hurt during the game against Ireland after a delivery from Josh Little struck his arm.
