Former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has often been compared to India’s talisman Virat Kohli in terms of their batting statistics. While Virat Kohli is often seen gaining the upper hand in matters, Babar Azam surpassed the former Indian skipper in a T20I record during Pakistan’s T20I encounter against Ireland.

Records tumbled during Pakistan’s third Twenty20 International encounter against Ireland, as captain Babar Azam eclipsed the milestone previously held by India’s star batsman Virat Kohli. After a setback in the first Twenty20I, Pakistan bounced back to claim victory in the next two matches, ultimately clinching the series with a six-wicket win over the hosts in Dublin on Tuesday.

Babar Azam Impressing In T20I

Babar showcased exceptional batting prowess, tallying 75 runs off 42 deliveries, including five sixes and six boundaries. His stellar performance propelled him to become the leading run-scorer in T20I cricket with more than 50 runs on 39 occasions, surpassing Kohli’s record of 38 such instances. Additionally, Babar achieved another milestone by becoming the first Pakistani batter to score 25 runs in a single over.

This feat was accomplished by hitting four sixes off Benjamin White’s bowling and a single. Babar’s remarkable partnership with Mohammad Rizwan, who contributed 56 runs, saw them share a crucial 139-run stand for the second wicket, laying the foundation for Pakistan’s victory after a shaky start by Saim Ayub.
