Babar Azam, 5 Others Not Returning To Pakistan After T20 World Cup Upset: Reports

Head coach Gary Kirsten and assistant coach Azhar Mahmood will return to their respective homes, with the Pakistan Cricket Board allowing the coaching staff to take time off due to no immediate engagements.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam and five other players, namely Mohammad Amir, Imad Wasim, Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan, and Azam Khan, have chosen to spend their break in London following their disappointing T20 World Cup performance. They will not return to Pakistan with the rest of the squad on Tuesday. Instead, they intend to enjoy time with friends and family in London, and some are considering participating in local leagues there, as reported by The Express Tribune.

Meanwhile, head coach Gary Kirsten and assistant coach Azhar Mahmood will be heading back to their respective homes. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has allowed the coaching staff to return to their countries with no immediate engagements scheduled, according to the report.

Pakistan had a disappointing outing in Group A of the ongoing T20 World Cup, which concluded with a narrow three-wicket victory against Ireland in their last match on Sunday. Babar Azam and team was criticized left, right and center after they were eliminated from the tournament

They suffered defeats against co-hosts USA and arch-rivals India, managing a victory against Canada by seven wickets.

With four points from as many games, Pakistan finished third in their group, failing to advance to the Super Eight stage as India and USA secured their spots after finishing in the top two positions.

The Pakistan team is scheduled to face Bangladesh in a two-match home Test series in August, followed by England’s tour of Pakistan in October.
