One such is 17-year-old Mumbai batter Ayush Mhatre who played a stupendous knock of 181 runs from 117 balls in the fifth-round match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He anchored Mumbai’s charge to reach a huge first-innings score of 403/7. Apart from Mhatre Angkrish Raghuvanshi played an innings of 56 runs from 66 balls and helped Mumbai set up a record-breaking first-innings score.
Ayush Mhatre also broke Yashasvi Jaiswal’s record and became the youngest batter to register a 150+ score in List A cricket. Jaiswal achieved the milestone when he was 17 years 291 days old whereas Mhatre’s age is 17 years 168 days. Robin Uthappa is placed in the third spot followed by Tom Prest.

Getting back to the match, the opening pair of Ayush Mhatre and Angkrish Raghuvanshi added 156 runs for the first wicket 24.5 overs. At one end, Raghuvanshi got out after scoring a well-deserved half-century, Mhatre continued to attack the other bowlers. The latter smashed 11 fours and 15 sixes during his stay at the crease. Siddhesh Lad and Prasad Pawar contributed with innings of 39 and 38 runs respectively. After Mhatre got out, Shardul Thakur played a commanding knock of 73 runs from 28 balls which included two fours and eight sixes. Thakur batted with a strike rate 260.71.
