Former Australian players and coaches including Ricky Ponting are all set to leave for Dubai in the middle of their commitments with other league franchises.
Sydney Thunder’s head coach Trevor Bayliss will be missing his team’s Big Bash League clash in order to make it to the IPL Auction 2024 which is scheduled to take place on December 19 for his side Punjab Kings.
Similarly, Aussie assistant coach Daniel Vettori also departed for Dubai after Australia’s 360-run win against Pakistan in the 1st Test at Perth. Daniel Vettori is associated with the Sunrisers Hyderabad and will be involved in the process of picking out the rest of the team in Dubai.

Lucknow Super Giants coach Justin Langer has decided to delay his trip up until the end of the Test series.
Seeing this the Australian media was evidently upset and took to their social media platforms to criticize the former cricketers who decided to give the IPL Auction a higher priority rather than their country’s domestic league fixtures.
With the IPL 2024 season reportedly starting in March, the auction has already got fans and pundits excited for the 17th edition of one of the biggest domestic tournaments in the world.
A total of 333 players will be going under the hammer as all teams look to pick the best of the lot for the 17th edition of the tournament.
