Rizwan makes an error: In an unusual turn of events, Pakistan’s new T20I captain, Mohammed Rizwan, made a major blunder by violating the revised bowling regulations for the shortened game. According to the updated rules, each bowler is allowed to bowl either one or two overs, with one bowler permitted to bowl up to three overs.
However, Rizwan allowed three bowlers – Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf – to bowl two overs each. This was a significant mistake, as it broke the regulations of the shortened format, yet it went unnoticed by both the on-field umpires and the match referee.
Glenn Maxwell’s Brilliance Powers Australia to 93/4
Australia was first to bat, and despite the shortened format, they posted an impressive total of 93/4. Glenn Maxwell played a key role, contributing 43 runs and becoming the 10th player in T20I history to surpass 10,000 runs. His innings included several big hits, and his partnership with Marcus Stoinis, who also played a cameo, helped Australia reach a competitive total. Pakistan’s bowlers, including Afridi, Rauf, and Naseem, struggled to contain the Australian batting attack.

Pakistan’s Top Order Collapses In Response
Chasing 94 runs, Pakistan got off to a disastrous start. The early loss of key wickets, including a duck from Rizwan and just three runs from Babar Azam, left them reeling. They quickly found themselves at 16/5, with Australia’s pace trio of Spencer Johnson, Xavier Bartlett, and Nathan Ellis taking control. Despite some late resistance from Abbas Afridi, Pakistan could only manage 64 runs, losing nine wickets in the process.
