AUS vs IND 2nd ODI: India’s batting woes continued in the second ODI against Australia at the Adelaide Oval, where the visitors once again struggled to adapt to the conditions. After being put in to bat first, India’s top order faltered early, undone by the sharp lateral movement on offer.
Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli departed cheaply, leaving the innings in disarray. However, Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer steadied the ship with a determined 118-run partnership for the third wicket, showing grit against a fiery Australian attack led by Josh Hazlewood, who was relentless with the new ball.
Despite both batters reaching their fifties, things weren’t all smooth in the middle. A viral stump-mic clip from the match has revealed a heated exchange between Rohit and Iyer, offering fans a rare glimpse into the intensity of the moment.
The incident took place during Hazlewood’s seventh over. Rohit mistimed a shot that dropped a few metres in front of the bowler and immediately looked to sneak a quick single. However, Iyer refused the run, forcing Rohit to rush back to his crease. The Indian skipper wasn’t too pleased, believing the run was very much on given Hazlewood’s fatigue from bowling a long spell.
What followed was a short but animated conversation between the two:
Rohit: “Aree Shreyas, hoyega yeh!” (Shreyas, that was a run!)
Iyer: “Aree aap karke dekho, mere ko mat bolo na phir.” (Then you try it, don’t tell me!)
Rohit: “Aree terko call dena padega, woh saatva over daal raha hai yaar.” (You’ve got to make the call, he’s bowling his seventh over!)
Iyer: “Mujhko uska angle pata nahi hai, call do na.” (I can’t see his angle, you make the call!)
Rohit: “Main nahi de sakta call.” (I can’t call that.)

The exchange quickly spread across social media, sparking discussion among fans about communication and game awareness between the two senior batters.
At the time of writing, India found themselves in trouble at 226 for 8 after 45 overs, struggling to post a competitive total against a disciplined Australian attack.
While the partnership between Rohit and Iyer was crucial in rescuing India from early danger, the on-field argument highlighted the pressure and high expectations that come with representing India in a tough overseas series.
