Shubman Gill becomes the fifth youngest captain for India in Test cricket

With the announcement of the new and young India Test squad for a 5 match series against England starting from June 20, Shubman Gill has become the 5th youngest captain to lead the national team in Test cricket when he goes out for the toss in Leeds. Gill is just 25 years old and has been named as the captain after former Test captain Rohit Sharma announced his sudden retirement from Test cricket. Virat Kohli, who received the Test captaincy in December 2014 after MS Dhoni stepped down as the Test skipper, was 26 years old at the time. Rohit Sharma, who received the Test captaincy in 2022, was 35 years old at the time.
