New Delhi: Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 23 runs in the final of the Asia Cup 2022 and became the champions of the tournament. The win had got a huge prize money for both the sides. 

Asia Cup Prize Money: Sri Lanka win Rs 1.20 crore

In a tournament organised by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Sri Lanka marked a thumping win and took home the huge cash prize. The hosts got a prize money of $ 1.50 lakh as champion, i.e. about Rs 1.20 crore. Whereas runner up Pakistan has got 75000 thousand dollars i.e. about 60 lakh rupees.

Waning Hasaranga becomesPlayer of the Series

Sri Lanka’s leg-spinner and all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga became the Player of the Series. He has taken 9 wickets at an average of 19 in 6 matches of T20 tournament. During this, the economy of Hasranga stood at 7.39. His best performance in this tournament was 3 for 21. Hasranga did wonders with the bat as well. He scored 66 runs at an average of 22. During this his strike rate was 150.

Dasun Shanaka thanks crowd for the ‘massive support

“I want to thank the crowd; they have been supporting us massively. Hopefully we made them proud today. In IPL 2021, Chennai won the match batting first and that is what was in my mind. These youngsters know the conditions really well. Wanindu made a huge impact after losing five wickets. Chamika and DDS batted really well too. The last ball six was the turning point. 170 was mentally the difference, as 160 always feels chasable,” said Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka after the win.
