New Delhi: Mark Wood proved his mettle on his return to the England’s playing XI on the 1st day of the 3rd Test match at the Headingley Cricket Ground on Thursday. The pacer made the quick impact in the game as removed Australia’s opener Usman Khawaja.
Mark Wood picks up Khawaja wicket
Wood with his sheer pace beats the bat of Khawja. He bowls a hard length delivery and the ball moves in the air in the last moment to take off the leg stump of Khawja who looked bamboozled by the late swing. It is a huge wicket for England as the dangerous man is gone.
Steve Smith in his 100th Test match has walked into the middle. England have also changed the ball after the wicket of Usman Khawaja. It will be interesting to see how Stokes will use Wood today. He is looking in excellent rhythm however the ideal way to use him may be with short spells rather than longer ones.
It's full and straight and far too quick for Usman Khawaja 🌪️

Warner’s wicket
Warner started the innings on a high note with a boundary on the first. But it was Broad who had the last laugh as he dismissed the Aussies on the last delivery of the first over. Warner succumbed to Broad later in the first over, Warner tried and feel the ball outside the off-stump of Broad’s delivery who came around the wicket. There was not much of seam movement or swing however Warner’s hard hands did the trick and edge carried to Zack Crawley at slip who took a brilliant catch.
