Duleep Trophy: Arshdeep Singh took 9 wickets

Arshdeep Singh produced a match-winning performance as India D convincingly defeated India B by 257 runs, thus ending their Duleep Trophy campaign with consolation victory on Sunday. India D started the day at 244 for 5 and eventually completed their second innings at 305, setting India B a testing target of 373 runs in just over 70 overs.

Arshdeep Singh’s Stunning 9 Wickets

Arshdeep and Aditya Thakare, who conceded 4 for 59, bowled together for 22.2 overs, ripping through India B for a paltry 115 runs. Arshdeep’s match figures of 9 for 90 included two dismissals of T20 skipper Suryakumar Yadav, who could muster only 16 runs. Again, it was a case of pressure getting the better of India B’s skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran, as he fell caught by Akash Sengupta for 19. An attacking 40 off 43 balls by Nitish Reddy turned out to be the only shining factor from India B’s debacle, as eight batsmen from the outfit failed to reach double figures.

India B ended their campaign on a positive note, earning seven points from three matches after winning their first match and earning a point after losing the first innings. India D finished at the bottom of the league table with six points from three matches after losing their first two matches.

Ricky Bhui Scores A Ton

Arshdeep has turned out promising despite getting edged out by Yash Dayal for a place in the Test team, effectively as someone capable of moving the ball away from right-handed batsmen and regularly troubling the top order.

Ricky Bhui went on to continue his rich vein of form, adding his second century of the tournament as he remained not out on 119 off just 125 balls with 15 fours and three sixes against Delhi XI. India D finished the day with 56 and 119, and Bhui got the Player of the Match award after scoring 61 runs in 14.3 overs, playing all morning session.
