The RCB’s head coach Andy Flower has praised the right arm fast medium bowler for his crucial spell against RR during Match 42 of IPL 2025 on Thursday April 24. Through his outstanding death bowling Hazlewood rescued a first home game victory for RCB after delivering four overs that resulted in 4 wickets and 33 runs.
What Andy Flower Said To Praise Hazlewood
“I would probably refer to both of his last overs because his 2 overs went for 7 and he took 3 wickets in them. So I think both those overs showed the class of the guy, he’s a, he’s a class operator, he’s a world-class bowler. He is great under pressure in any format of the game. He thinks clearly, and he’s got great skill. I know he’s known for his heavy length bowling. But he’s got some great, all-round skills. He mixes in those yorkers, wide yorkers, slower balls and he seems to know what type of ball to bowl at the right time. So it’s great having a guy like him in our squad, and part of a very strong three-pronged attack,” said Andy Flower in the post-match press conference.
Hazlewood’s Performance Against RR
In his initial two overs Hazlewood gave away just 26 runs and was still able to secured a crucial wicket when he dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal at the score of 49 runs in 19 balls. He then reappeared during RR’s 17th over with the team needing 46 more runs to secure victory in the final four overs. Hazlewood protected the boundary zone with only six deliveries while dismissing Shimron Hetmyer for 11 runs off 8 balls. With five wickets and 12 balls left for victory Punjab needed just 18 more runs Hazlewood took the bowling duties in this crucial fourth over. The experienced bowler displayed remarkable composure to execute his reliable death-over tactics which resulted in dismissing both Dhruv Jurel and Jofra Archer. The final over saw him charge only a solitary run.
