The case is said to involve, in its central allegation, a now 19-year-old woman who accused Joseph of raping her on March 3, 2023, at a house in New Amsterdam, Berbice, when she was 18. In an interview with Kaieteur News, the mother of the victim expressed that her daughter had told her she was going out with Joseph and would be back by a certain time.
