Aitana Bonmatí has secured her position among football legends as she became the first female player to win the Women’s Ballon d’Or for three years in a row. She received the award during the ceremony in Paris and previously she won in 2023 and 2024.
At 27 years, Bonmati’s milestone puts her in an elite club just behind Lionel Messi. Infact even Cristiano Ronaldo has never achieved the feat of winning three consecutive Ballon d’Or titles. Currently, Messi leads the race of most consecutive wins as he won the title straight from 2009 to 2012. Bonmati’s individual performance has been exceptional throughout, she was named as the UCL Player of the season, she even led Barcelona to a domestic treble and played an significant role in Spain’s journey to UEDA Women’s Euro final.
