The doomed Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is likely to restart after next week as India and Pakistan reached an agreement for a mutual ceasefire after the ‘Operation Sindoor’ Lordis led raid on the Indian Armed Forces to fight against terrorism. A couple of minutes after US President Donald Trump declared a “full and immediate ceasefire” between India and Pakistan, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said both sides would cease all firing and military operations on land, air, and sea from 5.00 p.m.IST on Saturday.

IPL 2025 Suspension
Midway through the IPL tournament, the governing body of IPL, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), suspended the tournament for a week because of the border impasse that was building between India and Pakistan. Now with the ceasefire declared, the tournament is most likely to kick off next week. The PBKS and DC match 58 of the mega event was abandoned in the middle of the first innings at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala. Spectators were also told of the cancellation and told to clear the area, while both teams had been taken back to their hotels.
Special Vande Bharat Train Arranged for Players
After the match was abandoned, the IPL governing body, BCCI, scheduled a special Vande Bharat train on short notice to transport the players and the support staff participating in the clash to New Delhi on short notice because the airports are closed temporarily due to border tensions. Earlier, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad had been reportedly shortlisted by BCCI for the remaining part of the tournament. Most of the overseas players are expected to return home by the end of Saturday. There are 12 league matches left, and then four playoffs. Originally, Hyderabad was supposed to host the first qualifier and the eliminator, as well as Kolkata for the second qualifier and final.
