Earlier James Anderson held the record with completing the 50 wickets in 31 ODIs. He managed to achieve this milestone against the West Indies in 2004. He was above Steve Harmison who held the record by taking 50 wickets in 32 matches against Australia in 2005. Although the overall record for the fastest 50 ODI wickets is held by Sri Lanka’s Ajantha Mendis, who achieved the feat in just 19 matches back in 2009.

Jofra Archer turned pretty expensive during the Australia clash against England in this Champions Trophy edition. During his 10-over spell, he just took 1 wicket by sparring 82 runs. His economy rate was 8.20 against the Aussies. He got an early breakthrough by taking a crucial wicket of Travis Head when he caught him at just 6 runs. England managed to get the highest-ever score of Champions Trophy history by Ben Duckett giving a hand with the bat by scoring 165 runs.
