Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi seemed to have woken up from hibernation. This was the only advanced stream remaining for women to allow to study and when that too was brought to a halt Rashid Khan could not stay quiet—followed by an equally stern reaction from his teammate in Afghanistan and former captain Mohammad Nabi. Ever since the Taliban took over after the withdrawal of the US forces from Afghanistan, it’s been a drastic one after the other this regime has kept introducing. The Afghan women have been banned from all forms of public life. They’ve been restricted from going to the gym and even indulging in something as basic as speaking in public. The world has reacted to all these calamities. This too, people have backlashed across all social media on the internet. Taliban’s approach has met with criticism in the past too but no Afghan dared to question them until now. Rashid and Nabi finally breaching the the silence is a massive step because they are the same athletes who were silent when the Taliban banned women’s cricket and even when women were barred from participation from any sporting discipline.
